So I guess this post can be the official cat-releasing-from-the-bag post. I was wondering if I should jut write like the news is out and everyone is aware, and talk about it as though I had been writing about it all along. Why haven't I announced it sooner? It's not very fun to announce, believe it or not. Maybe that's because I feel like it's a "Look at me! Look at me! Be pressured to ask me questions at a time when you may not feel so interested in talking to me!" type moment, and those are not very fun for me. Go figure, thanks, God-given personality. I thought about not announcing it at all and letting people wonder and guess and assume. But then we figured certain people would be upset with not being told. So little by little, one-by-one, we've told people. While we haven't gotten to the "let's tell all of facebook-land" point yet, I'm going to blog it first. We may not even make an official facebook announcement-status deal. Who knows.
Anyway, if you haven't guessed (I'm sure you have... or you've already been informed), there's a passenger on this blogging mother-ship. How do we know this? Well, let me tell you. It all started to cross my mind when the supernatural fatigue began to set it (I know now it was natural). Knowing the possibility of human-creation was likely (not a surprise, as in, not unintentional... the surprise feeling still creeps in, but that's because it's a totally crazy process), it still wasn't late enough to test my hypothesis. Even though I wanted to go to sleep at 8:00 every night, and in the afternoon, and morning, it was possible that I needed to exercise more or change my diet or flip the mattress or something. I have always been one to enjoy my share of sleeping, but this was noticeably more significant. There were other symptoms occurring that could have been chalked up to other womanly processes, but one fateful Saturday I decided it was time to put the hypothesis to test. So Mrs. Stick helped confirm with her pretty blue line. Unfortunately Hans was out of town for the day, so all he got was a picture of said informant texted to him. (He wasn't mad, promise.) So a doctor's visit later, it was officially confirmed, though to me it just meant my body was producing the hormone that makes blue lines on sticks.
Fast-forward 10 weeks and forever-secret-keeping: We heard the heartbeat today! And some static indicating it was an active little squishy. So we're now at 14 1/2 weeks (second trimester where risk of miscarriage is down to 1%, thank you Jesus) with a due-date of September 25th. Less than 6-months! Wierd.
Answers to common questions:
- I haven't had any morning sickness, but was very tired early on and have had a number of more migraines than usual. Praise the Lord, I get to take my migraine medicine! I haven't had one in a week, so I'm hoping they've miraculously disappeared... for the rest of my life.
- It wasn't a "surprise".
- We aren't telling names until the child is born... unless we change our minds once we know what gender the squishy is.
- We will be finding out what gender the squishy is.
- I haven't been craving anything out of the ordinary... just bread, which is always my favorite. I did want donuts the other day, though...
- We are excited, of course!
We know this is a blessing and are so thankful. We're praying for the development of the little being and health for all of us, and preparation for this little person to be added to our world!

Yay! Congrats mommy (and daddy)!

I'm so glad you got to host her and she got to be hosted by you!
Praying for your squishy - which, by the way, is kind of a weird way to refer to your child... ;)
